For Therapists and Referral Partners

You know this client.

They've done the work.

They understand themselves better than most people ever will.

And somewhere underneath all that progress, they are still stuck wanting something they cannot quite name.

The Survival to Creation Gap

Many clients reach a point in therapy where the tools that helped them survive and heal stop being the tools they need next.

They are no longer in crisis. They are not unwell.

They are self aware, capable, and still unable to imagine a future that genuinely excites them.

This is the survival to creation gap.

It's not a clinical issue. It's a developmental one, and it calls for a different kind of support, one that picks up where therapeutic work leaves off.

This Is

Forward focused coaching for clients who are stabilized and ready to reconnect with desire, direction, and vision. Coaching conversations, creative exploration, and real world experimentation, building on the foundation therapy already created.

Where Coaching Begins

This Is Not

A replacement for therapy. This work does not address trauma processing, nervous system regulation, diagnosable conditions, or crisis support. Clients in active trauma processing or destabilization are referred back to therapy.

About Katie

Katie Chappell is a certified Jungian Desire and Direction Coach.

Her approach grew out of her own experience of the survival to creation gap, years of meaningful therapeutic work that still left her disconnected from desire and direction.

She holds a clear boundary between coaching and clinical work, and refers clients back to therapy whenever clinical support is indicated.

A Referral May Be a Good Fit When a Client

  • Has completed or is winding down active trauma processing
  • Is emotionally stabilized and no longer in acute distress
  • Feels stuck, directionless, or disconnected from desire despite real therapeutic progress
  • Asks questions like "What do I actually want?" or "Where do I go from here?"
  • Is ready to shift from understanding their past to building their future

Likely Not a Fit When a Client

  • Is actively in trauma processing or still destabilized
  • Requires clinical support, crisis intervention, or mental health treatment
  • Would benefit from more therapeutic groundwork before beginning forward focused work

3 Month Discovery Journey

For clients who feel disconnected from what they want and are ready to begin reconnecting with desire, meaning, and direction.

6 Month Creation Journey

For clients ready to move beyond insight and begin actively building a life that feels genuinely their own.

"This work begins where stabilization has already happened. I refer clients back to therapy whenever clinical support, crisis intervention, or a diagnosis is indicated. I am a coach, not a clinician, and I hold that line carefully."

If This Sounds Like Someone You Work With

I'm always excited to connect with more therapists and people working in the healing and mental health space. I refer as often as I hope to receive, and I'd love to know your work too. If this sounds like someone you work with, reach out and I'll send you a one page overview to keep on hand, along with anything else that would be useful.
